Starting an Amazon business is exciting, scary and one of the smartest things you can do. With the FBA University proven model, success is a ‘when’ rather than ‘if”. If you’re ready to rock & roll, here are the 5 Steps to Start.

Step #1: Account Set Up

First, let’s get you approved to sell by creating an Amazon selling account. If you already have a seller’s account, you simply want to log in and ensure Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) is selected.

If you do not currently have anAmazon selling account, you can sign up online. You’ll be asked to choose a selling plan
  • Sign Up for Amazon Seller Account
  • ​Create a FREE Individual accountfirst
  • ​Once you begin Selling, switch the account to a Professional plan
You will need:
  • GovernmentID
  • ​SSN orBusiness EIN tax number
  • Phone Number
  • ​Bank Account
Once set up, it’s time to move to the Next Step!

STEP #2: PRODUCT RESEARCH

Next, it’s time to find your first product. The key to product research is to ensure your product has High Demand and Low Competition.

Here’s how we do that:
Use a tool like Sniper Insights to dissect what the Amazon catalog does not tell you. Sniper Insights
picks up both Sales and Customer search data from Amazon and organizes it into a chrome extension and dashboard foryou.

FRAMEWORK FOR FINDING PRODUCTS

A. Revenue (Market Demand)

  • Revenue: At Least $10,000 in Sales per month
  • ​Keyword Volume: Top 10-15 Keywords with combined search volume of 50,000+
  • ​Price: Nothing under $15

B. Reviews

  • Key: 5 Products on Page One of Main Keywords with Under 250 Reviews
  • When looking at reviews focus on these elements:
  • ​Avg Quantity: Competitiveness
  • ​AVG QUALITY: LOW REVIEW SCORE AVERAGE SHOWS PRODUCT DIFFERENTATION

C. Market Depth

You want to look for both:
  • ​Multiplesellers sharingsales (nomonopoly)
  • ​No brand names or single-brand dominance

C. Market Depth

Look For:
  •  Stedy or increasing salse price 
  • Consistent or decreasing BSR (Best Sellers Rank)
  • Consistent Reviews

E. Competitor Listings

Assess quality of competitor listings by looking to see if they have
  • Photos
  • ​Video(s)
  • A+ Content (only available to brand registered sellers)

F. Margins

  • Target: 30% Gross Margin

STEP #3: SOURCE YOUR PRODUCT

FIND A SUPPLIER

The majority of successful Amazon FBA business owners source their product from China. China is one the world’s top manufacturers and you can get high quality for
a fraction ofthe cost. 

 > But how do you find a supplier? 
 > And how do you vet them?

Use Alibaba to find and vet thousands of potential suppliers in China

1. Use Alibaba

Can seamlessly transition from Amazon Catalog to Alibaba via the Sniper Insights

2. Ensure the Following Three Criteria are met via your Supplier

  • Trade Assurance
  • ​Verified Supplier
  • Manufacturer (as opposed to a treading company)
Once you’ve founda quality supplier, the steps are:
  • ​Confirm initial price
  • ​Differentiate at least one aspect of the product. You should use poor customer
  • ​reviews for ideas on which improvement(s) is best!
  • ​Order samples
  • ​Test samples
  • ​Order product and have it shipped directly to an Amazon Fulfillment Center

Step #4: Launch Your Product

Now the true fun begins - making the sales! Come up with a good name for your brand, a logo and create a product listing. The better the listing quality, the better you'll sell

It’s key to remember that there are Amazon sellers across the world in your market, your native English writing ability give you a CLEAR ADVANTAGE. Take the time to write a product description that’s both Compelling and includes your main Keywords.

Here are some guidelines for the perfect Product Listing:
  • Put 10-15 Primary Keywords in the Title, Bullets and Product Description
  • Focus on product’s main benefits

Step #5: Scale Your Brand

Now that your first product is up and making a ton of sales, it’s time to scale to the moon! At this time, we want to add 2-3 products that will boost your revenue and
compliment your first product!
  • FirstResearch Growth products. These products should be similar in price range
  • ​Next: Research Scale products. This product should have a higher selling price
This process of building a brand allows for Cross-Selling opportunities where shoppers search for an initial product you have, then find that you have multiple products that could solve one problem.
